WEM3050T: The Ideal Choice for Home Energy Management

1. Compatibility

As a three-phase meter, WEM3050T is highly compatible. It supports single-phase, three-phase (WYE), and split phase (single phase three-wire systems).

1.1 Three-phase Grid

Monitoring a three-phase grid or three-phase loads is the most basic application of the WEM3050T.

Note: The three-phase system must use a WYE connection and require a neutral line. WEM3050T cannot be used for Delta connection systems. For Delta connection monitoring, please choose the WEM3080TD.

1.2 Single-phase Grid

WEM3050T can also be used as three single-phase meters. For example, phase A can monitor total household consumption, while phases B and C can monitor the air conditioner and water heater respectively.

This is a classic use case of WEM3050T in single-phase PV systems: one phase measures the grid, one phase measures the inverter output, and the third phase can monitor a specific load (optional).

1.4 Split Phase Grid + Split Phase PV

The split phase (single phase three-wire) system is very common in North America. One WEM3050T can monitor both the split phase grid and the split phase inverter at the same time.

Principle: Phases A and B are used to monitor the split phase grid, while phase C monitors one output of the split phase inverter. By setting the CTCratio parameter of the meter to 2, the power, current, and energy measured on phase C will be doubled. Since the split phase inverter output is balanced, doubling the C-phase reading gives the actual inverter output, enabling a single WEM3050T to monitor both the grid and inverter simultaneously.
